Soft pod coffee is an environmentally friendly single serve coffee alternative that provides a “better cup of coffee” due to its advantages over other single serve platforms. Soft coffee pods are compostable. Unlike other single serve coffee platforms, soft pods do not require the user to pull apart the spent plastic cup or aluminum capsule and separately dispose each of the components. Soft pods can simply be tossed in the trash or your compost pile with the confidence that no harm will be done to our environment and no stress is placed on our communities’ waste disposal systems. Soft pods allow for larger gram weights of fresh coffee over plastic cups and aluminum capsules. Soft pods will typically be 10 full grams of coffee with 11 and 12 grams pods widely available.
What does that mean? A full size 10 ounce cup of coffee will be
more robust and flavorful. Other platforms usually require smaller cup sizes to provide any flavor. Soft Pods provide robustness in the coffee size you want.
Soft pods can be brewed at higher temperatures to extract more coffee per cup and provide higher in-cup temperatures. Plastic cup brewing is recommended not to exceed 192F due to the impact of heat on plastic. Pod brewing can go as high as 205F to extract more coffee for each cup brewed. You will never have weak and “not hot enough” coffee with soft pod coffee brewed in the Briggs Soft Pod Brewer.
Soft pods continue to grow in popularity. Over 300 varieties of soft pods are available from a number of roasters and coffee packagers throughout the US and Canada.
