The Briggs Coffee Company was founded to fulfill a mission to bring to the market an environmentally responsible alternative in the single serve coffee space while providing a “better cup of coffee” and to promote our shared communities and experiences.
The genesis of “Briggs” comes from an old Norse and English word “Bryggia” meaning “to bridge”. Briggs developed as a surname and was given to people who lived near bridges or originated from a place named after a bridge.
Today, we find ourselves more and more disconnected from others. Technology allows us to email, text, blog, and post – without dialog; without interaction; without connection. Today’s tools drive isolation on a never-ending schedule without a beginning or end. We are always connected while at the same time always isolated. Weekends and vacations turn into more time on our devices, believing we are part of the global community while diminishing the shared experiences of the moment.
“Stop and smell the coffee” is a timeless expression representing our need to slow down, to connect with people, to share with others, and to look to the future.
Briggs is the literal and figurative representation of “stop and smell the coffee”.
